Sir Ed’s Centenary

To celebrate his birth centenary, a mini Mount Everest of snow will be dumped outside the Auckland home of Sir Edmund Hillary, followed by a new exhibition, Sir Ed’s Antarctica, inside Hillary House from 2-5pm.  Now a leadership centre at Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate School in Otara, the House will host the Mini Mt Everest experience from 9am-12pm, to enable young people to experience the feeling of snow, as a reminder of Sir Ed's expeditions.

An Auckland Heritage Festival event, with Peter and Sarah Hillary sharing memories of growing up in their home, now the Hillary House Leadership Centre. Based at Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate, Otara, the House will be open for a special exhibition and for reflection on Sir Edmund Hillary.  With Sarah in attendance from 10am-12pm and Peter from 12-2pm.
