Visiting Programme
A visit to Hillary House is a special experience. People find inspiration on seeing our storyboards and engaging with a growing archive of books, documents, photos and memorabilia. Currently our Visiting Programme is focused upon school leaders and senior citizens.

Teachers
Bring your student leaders to visit us at Hillary House. Many students are keen to know more about Sir Edmund Hillary and in learning of his legacy they become motivated about their own leadership potential. See Stories
School leaders and youth development organisations visit Hillary House for workshops where they learn about Sir Ed's life and work, talk about leadership and consider their goals and dreams.
Workshops are currently facilitated by education consultants Bernadette Phillips and Robin Houlker who is also the Chair of our Trust. Both Bernadette and Robin have considerable expertise in leadership training and development with both adults and young people.
Group size
The Hillary House seminar room has capacity for 35 people and other rooms in the House enable break out spaces for workshops.
Charges
Student leader workshops are free for decile 5 and below schools and there is a charge for school leader groups from decile 6 and above.

Senior citizens and community groups
Memories are rekindled when senior citizens visit us at Hillary House. They enjoy coming to ‘the house that Ed built’ and have contributed photos and memorabilia to our archives. We share a presentation about the journey of the House, followed by a tour of Hillary House and a cup of tea. Our team can offer a 45-minute presentation at your club or village prior to a later group visit to Hillary House, if you wish.
Our visitors to date have included groups from Probus, Rotary, Lions Club and retirement villages. See Stories

General public
We welcome visits to Hillary House from the public, however the House is managed by volunteer trustees and is open by arrangement only. There is a nominal charge of $10 per head for a minimum group size of 15 people. Please note for health and safety reasons we have a maximum group size of 35 visitors at any one time, which ensures comfortable movement around the house.
